Your Desire for Your Goals

No matter what your goals might be, how badly do you want them? What is your level of desire? Do you hope you can accomplish them, or do you feel like you NEED to accomplish them?

Let’s consider at an example. We all need air – right? Without air, we’re dead. As we go through our day though, we hardly ever think about air. We take it for granted. True, because we don’t think about it incessantly, we’re able to direct our focus to other things – BUT without the air, none of those other things matter – do they?

Now picture yourself on the beach, enjoying a beautiful sunset. You feel the waves splashing on your legs, as you begin to walk towards the ocean. The sea water is surprisingly warm. It’s comforting. You move further away from the beach and then suddenly realize the water is now up to your chest.

Just as you become aware of how far into the ocean you’ve wandered, a huge wave knocks you off balance. You slip under the water. The current is strong, and it pulls you further from the shore.

You begin to panic Now it’s difficult to keep your head above water. At that moment, how badly do you want that air? Do you still take it for granted when you must fight the waves to get a single breath?

This is the type of desire we need when we pursue our goals. In the example, the desire for air is always there. That need doesn’t change. The difference is when you’re under water and must fight for it, you realize how important it is.

If it were possible to feel that level of desire at all time, don’t you think you could accomplish your goals faster?

How to Respond to “No”

We’re all going to hear the word “no” more times than we’d like to. How we respond when we hear the word “no” will determine our success or failure.

In a work situation, to get a “no” will immediately set up a roadblock that if you move forward, you’ll run the risk of being labeled insubordinate.  One solution is to not even ask in the first place and implement your idea. If it works, you’ll be applauded. If it doesn’t, then apologize. Remember, it’s always easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission.

In a situation where you’re looking for someone to hire you or buy your product, consider what that prospect is really saying when they tell you “no.” What they’re really doing is asking for more information. If you can supply them with new information, they could potentially make a different decision.

There are countless examples of people who have heard “no” multiple times, but persevered until they found the “yes.” The creators of the smash-hit “Breaking Bad” were told “no” but at least three different TV networks.

They may have made some modifications to their concept, but they did not abandon it completely. More than likely, their “pitch” changed and incorporated new information. In hindsight, the TV executive who gave it the green light is likely viewed as smarter and more promotable than the ones who turned it down.

So why not help someone advance their own career, by giving them the opportunity to say “yes” to your idea or project?

Learning to Embrace Change & Growth

From the moment we’re born to the moment we die, we are constantly evolving, changing and growing. Change and growth are both natural. We can’t escape them. They’re always present. In fact, they are probably the only constant in this life.

Even though we might understand this on an intellectual level, change is also the one thing we tend to resist the most. What’s most surprising – the biggest changes are the ones we usually have the least resistance to. It’s the small things, the little changes, we tend to resist the most.

Why is that?

If it were possible to change how we think about change and growth, we might be able to get to where we’re going faster.

One thought we should consider – what is it that we can do today to begin the process of becoming more comfortable with change? How can we embrace it? Even want it or expect it?

The fact is, if we don’t change – we will be left behind.

Mystical Magnetism

Exercise to Develop the Mood of Success

You are invited to devote five minutes of every morning to the quiet, intensely energetic and believing assertion made in the depths of the soul:

“I now belong to the successful class. I am a success.”

The statement should be repeated slowly and deliberately, again and again, until you feel yourself ready for achievement. Ignore every contrary suggestion or conviction. Don’t argue against appearances, but welcome every favorable thought. Don’t try to believe what you say. Willfully assume that you believe.

Repeat this affirmation during the day, whatever your occupation, regardless of conditions. One month may be sufficient, or you may need to observe the exercise many weeks, but ultimately you will find yourself possessed of a new spirit.

This is an excerpt from The Power Within: Discover the Secrets of Success Magnetism. Thousands of people just like you are already using it to experience amazing results in their lives.
